<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">CHANDIGARH: In a strong rebuff to Congress dissidents, who held their way three months ago, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh reinstated AP Pandey, ADGP, as chief director of the vigilance bureau on Thursday removing the present incumbent Mohammad Izhar Alam, ADGP.<br /><br />Alam has been sent back as ADGP, administration, the post he had held before taking over as chief director, VB.<br /><br />The chief minister had given a similar to the dissidents early this week by appointing his media adviser BIS Chahal''s son GIS Chahal as DSP.
Chahal was sent on forced leave for three months at the insistence of the dissidents.<br /><br />Last December it was under extreme pressure from dissidents, led by deputy chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal that Pandey be removed from the office of chief director after the VB had referred a controversial complaint against transport minister Tej Parkash to the Chandigarh police.<br /><br />Tej Parkash, who is son of former chief minister Beant Singh, had taken strong exception to the alleged fake complaint against him, which the VB had entertained.<br /><br />Siddharth Chattopadhaya, IG, who was appointed director, VB, in the December reshuffle, is also shifted and posted as IG, Provisioning. SM Sharma, IG, who held the office earlier comes back to the same seat again.<br /><br /><formid=367815><br /><br /></formid=367815></div> </div><div class="section2"><div class="Normal"><br />The high-profile DIG, VB, BK Uppal, who had interrogated former chief minister Parkash singh Badal and his family members, is also divested of the office and posted as DIG, Intelligence. He would be replaced by GS Sahota in the VB.<br /><br />If on the one hand the chief minister has made light of dissidents, he has rewarded former DGP MS Bhullar, who played a key role in winning back some of the dissidents. His son, Harsharan Singh Bhullar, currently posted as SP (D) Fatehgarh Sahib, would be the new SSP, Jagraon. <br /><br />The chief minister has thus also debunked the Punjab IPS officers'' association stand that only IPS officers be appointed to the cadre posts.<br /><br />Bhullar is among four new SSPs appointed on Thursday. MS China, SSP, Jagraon, goes to Moga as such replacing Anita Punj, IPS, who would take over as SP, CID, Chandigarh.<br /><br />Narinder Bhargava, SSP, Barnala, will take over as SSP, Gurdaspur, replacing RPS Brar.
